The Trust wishes to thank Alan Holmes and his son Cain for making a £309.18 donation to Shrimps Trust. The pair held a bucket collection at the Shrimps home league fixture vs Coventry City on Saturday 9th December. They were looking to recover the cost to repair a private hire minibus which was vandalised at a recent away game. Owing to private donations and amounts collected on the day, they have raised £769.

Faced with the prospect of forking out £460 for the repairs out of his own pocket close to Christmas, Alan was relieved and overwhelmed by the generosity shown by all the supporters, officials and players that contributed from both clubs. Having raised £689.18 from the bucket collection, Cain, happy that his dad might now be persuaded to organise future minibus trips, kindly donated the surplus that was generated to Shrimps Trust.

The collection was organised by Morecambe FC matchday announcer and Shrimps Trust trustee, Mark Swindlehurst – who arranged for 12 year old Cain and dad Alan to have a behind the scenes tour of the dressing rooms and meet some of the Shrimps playing and backroom staff. Jim Bentley (pictured) handed over the cash in a scene reminiscent of the famous collection that took place last season, which saw the clubs supporters pay his £1000 fine. It shows how we look out for each other at this family club!
