Joel Shooter – Trustee Application

  • On October 8, 2021

I wish to put myself for ward for election to the shrimps trust board, having been a co-opted member for the past few months since June.

In this time I have increased the regularity of email newsletters being sent out with a variety of different content- ranging from player/ manager profiles to trust updates and sections with a more personal touch. It’s a task I have greatly enjoyed and one which I wish to keep on doing.

I am something of an unashamed football nerd, and like to be able to use that knowledge to help other fans (who have a life) learn a bit more about incoming players who they haven’t heard of, or to better understand what’s going on on the pitch.Incidentally, it’s also something which has helped land me a job at the Manchester Evening News doing audience engagement, which surely only help improve my delivery of this for the trust.

Something I am hugely proud of since joining the trust has been the ShrimpsNet Podcast, which I have delivered on a regular basis with the help of David Freear (Freez).

I have skills in media and sound editing so am very comfortable recording the podcast and preparing it for release and enjoy the chance to talk about the club with some superb guests. The club (Charlie Appleyard in the main) have been incredibly helpful in lining us up with guests from playing staff, coaching staff and more, and Freez is an excellent host to help us to deliver what we hope is an enjoyable and insightful listen on a weekly basis.

As well as the larger projects listed above, I contribute on social media to help provide more interaction and updates for the trust. It’s something many of the board do, and I enjoy chipping in to help make the trust more communicative.
