Shrimps 1-0 Orient

  • On November 17, 2019

Saturday, 2 Nov, League 2, Globe Arena 3pm.

Well, nobody saw that coming? Did they?
Jim jumps ship for non league and we end up with Baz n Kev taking charge and masterminding an improbable win to finally see three points at home, hurrah.
Our temporary management team dropped themselves from the team, though Baz was on the bench, so Halstead grabbed his chance. Tutte and Wildig came back in and we chased and harried and were positive from the off. Tutte testing the keeper from 25 yards early on and then Stockton going close with a header. Lewis forced another save as started like a train.
Orient were neat and tidy and forced a couple of corners but were shot shy, so it was half time 0-0.
With Orient coming out with more attacking intent, the management called upon a half fit Ajay Leitch Smith to light the re touch paper, and he did that almost immediately. A goal worthy of winning any game, never mind the first home in since April was a cracker.
AJ wriggled free, dropped his shoulder to create half a yard to shoot and curled home from 23 yards to send the home and long suffering faithful into delight.
Orient reacted well and threw caution to the wind, only an injury time stop from Halstead keeping the three points safe.
So, well done BAz n Kev, good luck to Kim, Ken and Lee at Fylde but with interviews for new gaffer upcoming, its going to be an interesting few weeks.
