After a decent opening spell from the Shrimps, with some nice neat football without any real end product, we lost our way a littler and Grimsby pressed for an opener. However both sides final ball was pretty hopeless on the day and it did look for a considerable period that this would end 0-0.

Baz had a couple of scary moments in the first half, but wayward finishing let them down. Both sides, as often happens at the back end of the season, cancelled one another out and the game remained incident free almost until the subs made a difference.Collins broke free soon after coming on and attempted to round McKeown in the Mariners goal with ten minutes to go. Mckeown looked to get a hand to the ball, however he also looked to have caught Collins who made the most of the contact and went down. Collins himself stepped up and slotted home to open the scoring and if the rest of the game was to be similar, almost certainly grab all three points.

However, Grimsby threw the full backs forward and went for it. we dropped a little deep and with two minutes remaining Dennis turned at the near post and crossed low for Vernam to slot in the equaliser.

Justice was probably done as they had deserved something from the game, our only shot in target being the penalty, but this was typical end of season fare, we move on to Mansfield.
