Tangerines 4-1 Shrimps

  • On November 17, 2019

FA Cup, Saturday Nov 9, Bloomfield Rd, 3pm.

This was seen as a free hit for the Shrimps as we had nothing to lose, in the end it was a free hit for the Pool as they romped home with ease, similar to the Leasing cup 5-1 hammering to be fair.
A healthy nearly 1000 away following were stunned into silence early on as Pool showers their class and raced into a 3-0 lead. Some poor marking from first a right wing cross and then a left wing corner lead to two quick goals. At two nil, we still had nothing to lose and so nearly got back into it as Sam Lavelle hammered a well delivered free kick against the bar, the rebound falling nicely for Pool to clear. Unlike up the other end as a Halstead save fell nicely for Pool to tap in for 3 at half time. Cole Stockton turned well and hot a post with long range effort to prove that we could hurt them but it wasn’t our day. However, a long range Brewitt side foot reared up on Alnwick in the home goal and Cole stabbed home the rebound!!
In the second half, we were kept at arms length by the home side. Kai Kai created and missed two chances before adding a 4th after some neat work down the left. We huffed and puffed with little effect despite the noise coming from the away end.
So our new boss, making us the Adams family? saw us lose, for the first time but he will be able to get stuck in on Monday and see what he can do. No cup ru this year, though Fylde are through!!
