Shrimps 2-2 Cobblers

  • On October 5, 2019

Saturday 28 Sept, Globe Lg 2, 3pm.

After being absent without leave for Oldham, (me, not the team, thought that could also be the case from what has been said!!), we return home to desperately improve on three abysmal, numb performances which have allowed teams around us to steal a march and either forge ahead or catch us up.
The first real chance of an open game fell to AJ, who latched onto a perfect through ball to try and slip it under the onrushing keeper who stopped it with the inside of his thigh.
Almost inevitably, the Cobblers took the lead when Conlan got underneath a corner to leave his marker free to head home from 10 yards, aaagh. Giving cheap goals has been our downfall all season and so it continues.
They doubled the lead when a Turnbull effort from 25 yards deflected off Olds heal to nestle neatly in the bottom corner and we were again staring down the barrel.
Conlan was replaced by Buxton and this was the turning point. Bucko lead the charge, taking people on, being available and hitting telling passes all afternoon. Adam then let fly from far out and it caught the keeper out and squeezed into the bottom corner for 1-2.
Kev came on and we started to get some joy down both flanks. Crosses came in, corners were repelled, however, for a change we were not be denied and after great work down the right from Tanner his cross was flicked on by AJ and who else but Kev reacted quickly to prod home for an equaliser.
We then seems to sit back and gloat as the Cobblers piled forward but Baz held firm to acquire a valuable and deserved point.
