Tonight was the chance to really put the cat amongst the pigeons and lift ourselves to the heady heights of 22nd and leapfrog our visitors from Cheshire.

Im happy to report that we turned up on a horrid night and were professional from the first minute to the last, more please. As we kicked with the fierce wind behind us, we played to feet, used the width, and finally took our chances early in game and what a difference.

A couple of long range efforts early on, both went wide, but these signalled our intent. A corner was half cleared, Diagouraga reacted quickest and he slammed high into the net  to open his account in red. We started to exert yet more pressure, corners were cleared but chances came and went, the keeper making a good stop from Cole. Old perhaps should have done better with a header too but then Wildig turned quickly and his wickedly deflected effort nestled in the bottom corner. What a pleasant change for us to get a goal after a deflection instead of it going in our own net?

The second half saw us kicking into the teeth of the gale, and we were switched on, cute in our approach and on a couple of occasions had chances to lengthen the lead. However, Macc made changes, and came at us. Mafoumbi made a couple of decent stops and a long range effort whistled very close, but we saw out the time well, with DA again recognising the Macc danger and changing our formation n appropriately.

So grab the oxygen masks, we are looking up not down!!
