Shrimps 0-1 Walsall

  • On October 4, 2019

Tuesday 17 Sept, Globe, Leg 2, 7.45pm.

Our first ever meeting in any competition with Walsall, the Saddlers in as a precarious position as ourselves, another side like Scunthorpe, who have-not yet grown accustomed to the unusual rigours of League 2.
Whilst we were still licking our wounds after the mauling at Glanford Park, The Saddlers struck early. A other long range effort was parried by Baz, who again found his defence flat footed for the rebound and we were chasing the game.
Unlike the game on Saturday, we had very few efforts on goal, the best was a disallowed Miller goal after Kev had neatly headed it down to him.
In truth, we capitulated on the night, every time a Walsall player closed our man down, he turned and went backwards, nobody wanted to take responsibility and we looked beaten with ten minutes to go.
It could be a very long and hard winter unless we learn that we may as well get beaten having a go, competing and going forward, than playing safe and keeping possession but doing nothing with it.
